Currently I'm sitting at 65k on my friends of the Kurzick title, meaning I need to grind 25k to get the title, then I can start grinding it for the kurzick/luxon skills. However I have earned 105'783 faction on my account because of faction spent on amber (not knowing about the titles becoming required) or lost due to earning over the 10k limit. But if I had known this would be coming, I would already have the title at rank 1.

But since I didn't, and my alliance has no chance of holding a town, I spent my faction where it actually gave the benefits I knew about and I lost out when this came around.

From a lore perspective this would make more sense as you earn the title for helping a faction, not for cashing out on the goodwill you earned helping them.

yeah, the faction donation is pretty useless unless you're in a guild that wants control of a town (which...especially after the invent of travel scrolls...is also pretty useless). kinda bums me out since i am all about ab.

i ended up getting the first title just to have it but donated faction is such a waste that i completely blew off any further progress. people might complain that it's a double-reward (as far as a title can be considered a reward) but then treasure-hunter would be considered a quadruple-reward (since you get a weapon/offhand, a point towards treasure-hunter, a 50/50 chance at getting a gold you can id for a point towards wisdom, and both tangible bonuses from the treasure-hunter and wisdom title tracks...maybe then a quintuple reward?)

after arguing with myself for about 45 seconds, i'd have to agree with you there. good idea.

Good idea. Anything to relieve grind is a help.

Its nice they added extra kurzick/luxon PvE skills but if they would have said they were adding them maybe people would have worked on the kurzick/luxon titles more and what not.

Agreed. I've earned over 512,000 Luxon faction, every last bit of which was spent on Jadeite, so despite all that work I'm not even at "Friend" level 1. Anet, PLEASE FIX THIS.

Doesn't affect me that much, but for those who've gotten 15K Kurz or Lux using faction to get amber jade etc. will be useful to them

i guess it would not be possible since there isnt a track that keeps records of the amount of faction we earned and traded for amber/jade before the update.

and there is something keeping track, just mouseover on the luxon/kurzick faction bars it'll say how much you've earned on your account, just like balthazar faction.

This is the best way to do it. You don't get people whining that they spent their faction purely for title, the people who bought amber ages ago and are now screwed aren't at a disadvantage either. They just have to swap one memory pointer and it's done. Sounds good to me.

He is saying for the amount that we earned in the first place, not the amount that we cashed in for jade/amber or the amount lost when you favor another faction, just the total amount earned. And it does store how much total faction one has earned. Proof:

Spent over 200k faction on Amber when it only sold for about 500g a piece. I didn't even make that much money off of it.
